Autom�vel de passeio mais vendido em junho nos Estados Unidos, o Chevrolet Cruze ganhar� uma vers�o com motor a diesel no mercado norte-americano a partir de 2013. Esta configura��o do modelo j� � comercializada na Europa. O Cruze chega ao Brasil no quarto trimestre do ano, apenas com propulsor bicombust�vel (�lcool e gasolina).

Camaro de 2.700 cv bate antes da estreia

A estreia que ningu�m esperava � assim pode se definir a primeira acelerada deste Chevrolet Camaro tipo dragster no Brasil. O b�lido de arrancada foi importado dos Estados Unidos e foi � pista pela primeira vez no �ltimo domingo (17), no Aut�dromo Velopark, em Nova Santa Rita (RS), durante etapa do Campeonato Ga�cho de Arrancada. Por�m, um acidente logo no aquecimento dos pneus impediu que o carro acelerasse uma s� vez nos 402 metros da pista, segundo informa��es do site Dragster Brasil.
Desenvolvido pelo norte-americano Kart Damron, o carro foi pilotado pelo pr�prio criador da obra, que n�o se acostumou com a pista brasileira. Ele perdeu a dire��o logo no primeiro aquecimento de pneus, a frente do carro foi de encontro ao muro e ficou bastante danificada. At� mesmo a porta ao lado do motorista se abriu ap�s o impacto.
�O piloto saiu do trilho de borracha, onde os carros arrancam. A� fica dif�cil de segurar. Com poucos carros de grande porte durante esta etapa, o trilho contribuiu para este acidente�, explica o editor do site Dragster Brasil, Fabio Felix Pascoal. O b�lido feito para as pistas ostenta sob o cap� um motor V8 Big Block capaz de render at� 2.700 cv de pot�ncia (ou 36 vezes a pot�ncia de um Fiat Uno 1.0).

The Chevrolet Colorado Concept was revealed in advance of the 2011 Bangkok International Auto Show, where it is making its global public debut. The concept previews the next-generation Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup truck, which will build on Chevrolet's strong truck DNA and award-winning heritage. The Chevrolet Colorado goes on sale in Thailand later this year.



"Thailand is the world's-largest market for midsize pickups, so this was the perfect location in which to unveil our new Colorado," said Susan Docherty, vice president, GMIO Sales, Marketing and Aftersales. "Trucks have been part of Chevrolet's core for nearly all of its 100-year history. The Chevrolet Colorado reinforces that heritage with expressive design, refinement and uncompromising capability."



The show truck features an extended-cab body atop a high-stance AWD chassis and rides on large, 20-inch wheels and off-road tires. Power comes from an efficient 2.8L turbo-diesel engine, which produces a broad torque band for excellent cargo and towing capability.



"Although this is a show vehicle, the basic proportions and form convey the vision for the next-generation Chevrolet Colorado that we will bring to market," said Brad Merkel, GM's global vehicle line executive. "It reflects a stylized version of the new truck, one that takes into account rugged dependable truck capabilities for commercial use as well as sophisticated refinement for personal-use needs."



While the new Chevrolet Colorado Concept was developed within GM's global product development organization, engineers took careful steps to ensure it would meet local market needs. Roberto Rempel, GM's global vehicle chief engineer, lived in Thailand for several months during the truck's development, immersing himself in the market and observing how the Thai people use their trucks and the road conditions they experience."Pickups are instrumental in the vibrant Thai economy and owners take great pride in their trucks, which are used for both work and personal driving," he said. "These customers ask a lot of their trucks, so the powertrains and chassis must be very robust to earn their trust - and that's exactly what we've delivered."



Design details



The Chevrolet Colorado Concept's purposeful design conveys strength through bodywork that appears tightly wrapped over the chassis and a wide, confident stance. In the front, Chevrolet's internationally recognized gold bowtie and dual-port grille are framed by large headlamps that flow into the front fenders, and an extractor vent on the hood.



"Around the globe, pickup trucks are associated with strength, capability and function - and that's exactly what the Chevrolet Colorado show truck embodies," said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of Global Design. "Its broad-shouldered proportions are derived from nearly a century of Chevrolet truck heritage."



Pepperdust Metallic exterior paint is accented with polished aluminum details in the fascias, as well as integrated side steps and black-masked projector-style headlamps with LED lighting elements. At the rear is a full-width LED-lit taillamp, which creates a striking appearance when illuminated.



Additional exterior details include:



A streamlined "cab collar" design with a body-color hard tonneau cover on the bed

Gray accents on the side, front and rear lower moldings

20-inch aluminum wheels featuring a "liquid metal" finish, with Stone Gray color wheel ports

Cooper 285/50R20 ZEON LTZ tires

Outside mirrors with LED turn-signal indicators.

Inside, there's another signature Chevrolet cue: a dual-cockpit instrument panel design. It flows into the doors, with continuous lines that create a floating, wraparound effect, amplifying the Chevrolet Colorado's feeling of spaciousness. Ice-blue lighting and high-quality, "double-faced" leather-trimmed seats add sophistication and refinement.



"The interior is designed to deliver a premium and inviting environment, with a greater feeling of spaciousness than is typically found in midsize trucks," said Welburn. "There's also great attention to detail in the execution of the features you see and feel."



A brace of motorcycle-inspired, three-dimensional gauges stand out on the instrument panel, projecting a sporty appearance.



Contrasting trim used with the light-colored leather seating, dark wood trim accented with chrome and low-gloss and soft-touch materials are used throughout for a premium feel. A number of storage compartments are located throughout the interior, including a covered center bin for concealment of valuable items, and a large, dual glovebox.



Additional features include a dual-zone, digital climate control system and the latest in "infotainment" technology. The show truck highlights an ergonomically positioned 7-inch LCD display in the center stack, for easy viewing and intuitive control of Web access, navigation, music and hands-free phone features.

Para alguns, os 416 cv de pot�ncia do Chevrolet Camaro SS n�o s�o suficientes. Mas ser� que o muscle car da GM pode mais? Tudo indica que sim, j� que rumores da ind�stria apontam que a vers�o ZL1 do cl�ssico americano poder� render mais de 577 cavalos. Tudo isso para enfrentar o ganho de for�a de seu principal concorrente, o Ford Shelby GT500, que cravou 550 cv com seu motor V8 5.4.
Embora o Camaro ZL1 j� tenha sido apresentado no Sal�o de Chicago deste ano, os n�meros do seu motor continua mantido em segredo. A �nica coisa revelada pela GM � a possiblidade do V8 6.2 da marca ultrapassar os 557 cv de pot�ncia. Mas a disputa n�o dever� acabar t�o cedo... pouco ap�s o lan�amento do novo Camaro, previsto para este semestre, o p�blico dever� ficar sabendo qual ser� a pot�ncia do Ford Shelby GT500 2013. Tudo indica para mais de 620 cv, gerados pelo V8 5.8 da marca. A briga vai continuar boa.

A hist�ria do Chevrolet Chevelle

Novamente em foco, no filme Velozes e Furiosos 4, sendo pilotado pelo ator Vin Diesel, o Chevrolet Chevelle foi criado visando o publico mais jovem.

Como a Chevrolet em 1963 havia lan�ado o Chevy II e percebeu que existia uma lacuna no seguimento dos m�dios. Foi ent�o com receio de perder uma grande fatia do mercado para a Ford, American Motors e Chrysler em 1964 lan�ou o Chevelle.

O carro veio com muitas varia��es de vers�es que inclu�am o esportivo SS, o Malibu, o 300, um convers�vel e uma Perua. E ainda tinha as op��es de 2 ou 4 portas uma grande variedade de motores, indo de seis-cilindros b�sico, com cilindrada de 3,2 a 3,8 litros, V8 de 283 pol3 e at� o small block 327, de 5,36 litros, que entregava entre 250 a 300 cv.

No ano de 1965 surge as primeiras modifica��es, o Chevelle recebe novas lanternas traseiras, uma nova grade e o motor big block, de 6,5 litros. Foi justamente com este motor que ele entra para o Hall dos muscle-cars. O carro era bem visto podia ser usado pela fam�lia ou tamb�m usado pelos jovens nas provas de arrancadas.

Em 1966 teve seu estilo todo modificado tendo altera��es no teto, p�ra-lamas, grade, far�is e lanternas. Tornava-se mais longo e aerodin�mico.

O SS tinha tr�s op��es de motores o L35 b�sico, de 325 cv a 4.800 rpm e 56,6 m.kgf de torque; o L34, de 360 cv a 5.200 rpm e 58 m.kgf, com um comando mais bravo e carburador de maiores dimens�es; e o topo-de-linha L78, de 375 cv a 5.600 rpm e 57,3 m.kgf de torque. Dentro do pacote Z16 havia ainda a op��o de tuchos mec�nicos, para trabalhar em rota��es mais altas, coletores de escapamento redimensionados, v�lvulas de cabe�ote do 427, taxa de compress�o de 11:1, coletor de admiss�o em alum�nio e um carburador Holley com capacidade de 800 cfm.

O SS passou a ser chamado de SS 396 para separa-lo dos outros SS�s. Fora redesenhado, com novos p�ra-choques e duas entradas de ar falsas no cap�, que virou marca registrada da vers�o.

Em 1967 surgiram os novos motores com seis cilindros (3,8 e 4,1 litros), o V8 b�sico 283 (4,6 litros), passando pelos small blocks 327, de 275 a 325 cv, e as mesmas op��es para o 396 (L35, L34 e L78). Pneus mais largos em rodas de 14 pol e freios a disco dianteiros. A transmiss�o autom�tica Turbo Hydramatic, de tr�s velocidades, passava a ser alternativa � Powerglide de duas marchas e �s manuais de tr�s e quatro marchas.

Em 1968 o Chevelle j� n�o tinha semelhan�a com seus antecessores tinha o capo mais longo, teve o entreeixos reduzido os motores 6 cilindros e V8 continuavam os mesmos, s� os small blocks que vieram com algumas diferen�as.

Em 1969 surgiu o motor 396 L89, que era o mesmo 396 L78, por�m em alum�nio. O estilo mudou apenas os p�ra-choques e os far�is. Os seis-cilindros e o V8 307 continuavam em produ��o, mas o 327 deixava a linha de todos os Chevrolets para dar lugar ao cl�ssico 350 (5,7 litros), com pot�ncia de 250 a 300 cv, este com carbura��o quadrijet.

Os big blocks continuavam com a denomina��o 396, embora tivessem sido modificados para 402 pol3 (6,6 litros). A Chevrolet, depois de gastar muito em publicidade, decidiu manter o n�mero, pois a denomina��o SS 396 estava dispon�vel para todos os modelos, como o Malibu Sport Coup�, o Chevelle 300 com ou sem coluna central e at� mesmo o picape El Camino.

O ano de 1970 foi o auge de desenvolvimento do Chevelle. Foi um modelo �nico, fabricado somente nesse ano, com linhas "musculosas", grade reta com quatro far�is incorporados aos p�ra-lamas e lanternas traseiras quadradas integradas ao p�ra-choque.

Todos os motores eram os mesmos, menos o L35, que deixava de ser produzido. Mas passava a equipar o Chevelle um dos maiores big blocks utilizados na ind�stria at� ent�o: o LS5 454 (7,4 litros) de 360 cv a 5.400 rpm e 69,1 m.kgf (500 libras-p�) de torque a 3.200 rpm. Derivado do V8 427, tinha maior curso dos pist�es; por isso oferecia menos pot�ncia do que o L78 e o L89, mas com mais torque, como preferem os americanos.

Ainda em 1970 o Chevelle ganhava um "irm�o" mais elegante: o Monte Carlo. Pensando em retornar �s competi��es, a Chevrolet havia descartado o uso do Impala, pois precisava de um carro menor e mais �gil. Decidiu ent�o desenvolver um duas-portas com sua classe na plataforma do Chevelle de quatro portas. Suas linhas eram elegantes e at� hoje possui o maior cap� j� utilizado em um carro da General Motors.

Em 1971 foi um dos piores para a industria automobil�stica americana. A polui��o nos grandes centros tornava-se preocupante e o governo tomava decis�es dr�sticas. As companhias de seguro estavam muito descontentes com a "febre" dos muscle-cars, carros de centenas de cavalos sob o cap�, mas com freios e suspens�o subdimensionados, que n�o raro resultavam em graves acidentes.

Em 1972 a situa��o ficava ainda mais cr�tica: a vers�o SS passava a ser apenas um pacote de opcionais para qualquer Chevelle V8. O resultado podia ser visto em Chevelles SS com motor 307 V8 de 130 cv l�quidos. Deve-se observar que, por decis�o do governo americano, a partir do ano-modelo 1972 todo fabricante passava a informar a pot�ncia e o torque l�quidos em vez dos brutos, obtidos segundo a norma J1349 da SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers, sociedade de engenheiros automobil�sticos). A mudan�a, por si s�, representava cerca de 35% de redu��o nos valores num�ricos.

Em 1973 marcou o fim da estrada para a vers�o SS. A populariza��o do pacote SS fora tal que estava dispon�vel at� mesmo para a perua Chevelle de cinco portas. O carro perdia muito em estilo, com linhas nada harmoniosas. O golpe final seria dado com a crise do petr�leo naquele ano, abrindo caminho para que os eficientes japoneses tomassem de vez o mercado americano. O L65 possu�a apenas 145 cv a 4.000 rpm.

Em 1974 a vers�o Laguna substitu�a a SS como topo de linha. Como atrativo trazia os assentos dianteiros girat�rios, fazendo do Chevelle mais um carro de luxo no mercado. Apesar disso, as vendas come�avam a aumentar por causa de seu retorno �s pistas em 1975, quando a Chevrolet colocava no mercado o Laguna S. A maior novidade era o estilo aerodin�mico do cap�, antecipando algumas tend�ncias de estilo vistas no Camaro.

Apesar do sucesso nas pistas, que aumentava as vendas com base na filosofia americana do win on Sunday, sell on Monday (ven�a no domingo, venda na segunda-feira), a prioridade da Chevrolet era conforto, n�o desempenho. Descaracterizado como produto, a situa��o continuou at� 1977, quando o nome Chevelle deixou de existir, dando lugar ao Chevrolet Malibu. Mais compacto e leve, ele continuou a saga com os derivados do Chevelle, como o El Camino e o Monte Carlo. Este recebia como heran�a o lugar do Chevelle na NASCAR, a categoria americana de carros de passageiros altamente modificados, posto que ocupa at� os dias de hoje.

A hist�ria do Chevrolet Opala

Em 1966 a GM lan�a o projeto do primeiro carro brasileiro com a marca Chevrolet, "OPALA". O nome � dado pela fus�o de dois produtos da GM no exterior (Opel e Impala).

Ap�s dois anos de expectativa, o Chevrolet Opala � finalmente apresentado ao p�blico brasileiro, no Sal�o do Autom�vel em 1968, precisamente aos vinte dias do m�s de novembro. Ele chega em quatro vers�es, todos quatro portas - Opala com 4 e 6 cilindros e Opala De Luxo tamb�m 4 e 6 cilindros, todos excepcionalmente confort�veis para seis pessoas, bancos dianteiros inteiri�os, c�mbio de tr�s velocidades � frente com alavanca na coluna de dire��o, painel com poucos instrumentos, amplo porta malas e boa dirigibilidade.

No ano de 1971 surge o Opala cup�, n�o possu�a colunas laterais, o teto puxado para tr�s e perfil alongado, assim representava uma imagem mais esportiva, de carros compactos. Em seguida desapareceu a vers�o SS quatro portas, pois pelo aspecto esportivo era favor�vel sua apresenta��o em duas portas.

Como op��o permanente era oferecido dois tipos de caixa de mudan�as: Tr�s velocidades e alavanca na dire��o, ou quatro velocidades e alavanca no assoalho, onde a segunda op��o oferecia maior agilidade, economia de combust�vel e melhor desempenho, especialmente para os modelos quatro cilindros.

Foi em 1973 que toda linha Opala sofre as primeiras modifica��es. A que obteve maior resultado foi a da mec�nica do 4 cilindros: aumentou-se o di�metro dos cilindros e reduziu o curso dos pist�es. Esse motor recebeu o nome de 151 e apesar da pequena altera��o da cilindrada (2474cc), houve um consider�vel aumento de pot�ncia. Tamb�m foi introduzido o sistema de transmiss�o autom�tica, sendo opcional para 6 cilindros, e em 1974 se estendia para os ve�culos 4 cilindros.

Somente em 1975, o Chevrolet Opala sofre a maior modifica��o no seu estilo, foram redesenhadas as partes traseiras e dianteiras. O cap� recebeu um ressalto central e, para maior seguran�a, redondos encaixavam-se em molduras quadradas; as lanternas dianteiras foram instaladas na ponta dos p�ra-lamas; a grade dianteira, pintada em preto fosco, agora apresentava dois frisos horizontais. Instalados na parte traseira, quatro lanternas redondas, as duas internas funcionavam apenas como refletores e seu centro branco como luz de r�. A parte interior tamb�m sofreu modifica��es estil�sticas.

A Fam�lia continuava a crescer: a perua Caravan chegava ao mercado em 1975. Um projeto iniciado em 1971, apresentado em uma �nica vers�o 4 cilindros, a perua Caravan, podia receber opcionais como motor 6 cilindros, transmiss�o autom�tica, c�mbio tr�s ou quatro marchas, dire��o hidr�ulica ou outros, � escolha do comprador. Lan�ou-se simultaneamente, nas vers�es cup� e quatro portas, o Chevrolet Comodoro que substituiria o Gran Luxo. Intitulado como o carro de maior status da linha, normalmente vinha equipado com motor 6 cilindros de 4.100cc, 184 cv de pot�ncia e 4000rpm, carburador de duplo corpo, transmiss�o manual de quatro marchas (ou autom�tica) e dire��o hidr�ulica.

A GMB lan�ou um carro especial: O cup� 250S, um carro com maior desempenho que satisfez os compradores de modelos esportivos. Sua maior diferen�a era a prepara��o efetuada no motor de 6 cilindros, que tinha a rela��o de compress�o aumentada para 8,0:1, comando de v�lvulas trabalhado e carbura��o dupla. A pot�ncia passou a ser de 153 cv, superior a antiga, desse modo o Opala 250S obtinha a acelera��o de 0 a 100Km/h em apenas 10s.

Surgi o Opala em vers�o b�sica em duas ou quatro portas de motor 4 cilindros, substituindo os modelos Especial e De Luxo que saia do mercado. O modelo b�sico estava preparado para aceitar transforma��es com diferentes opcionais: motor de seis cilindros ou 250S; c�mbio de tr�s ou quatro marchas, manual ou autom�tico; e dire��o hidr�ulica entre outras modifica��es. Assim a partir de um modelo b�sico era poss�vel obter qualquer modelo da linha, desde o antigo Especial at� o modelo Comodoro.

Em 1975 os ve�culos foram equipados ainda com freio a disco nas rodas dianteiras, duplo circuito hidr�ulico, c�mbio de tr�s velocidades na coluna da dire��o e barra estabilizadora traseira. A mec�nica era encontrada em quatro vers�es: Motor 151b�sico (4 cilindros, 2474 cc e 90cv); Motor 151 S (4 cilindros, 2474 cc e 98 cv); 250 (6 cilindros, 4098 cc e 148 cv) e 250 S (6 cilindros, 4098 cc e 153 cv).

Manteve-se a produ��o da linha esportiva mais simples - SS 4 cilindros com motor 151S e SS 6 cilindros com mec�nica opcional do 250S, lan�ado em 1976 para se eternizar na mente dos apaixonados.

Em 1978, apesar de poucas mudan�as na linha, a Caravan tamb�m ganhou sua vers�o SS.
Em 1980 � lan�ado o Diplomata, top de linha, que contava entre outros com dire��o servo-assistida e condicionador de ar, como item de s�rie. O Diplomata conquista prefer�ncia executiva para aqueles que procuravam total conforto sobre rodas.
No ano de 1981, a linha sofre modifica��es interiores - volante inovado e painel mais atual. Em seguida lan�a-se a s�rie Silver Star. No ano de 1983 o c�mbio de 5 marchas entra no mercado.

As modifica��es ganham maior impacto deixando o Diplomata com aspecto mais agressivo - 1985. A est�tica externa do Diplomata ganha largas molduras laterais e far�is auxiliares de longo alcance. Internamente, instrumentos com novo designer e a evolu��o el�trica para controles dos vidros e retrovisores.

A nova frente, com far�is trapezoidais e lanternas traseiras por toda a largura do ve�culo � introduzido nos modelos fabricados em 1988, por dentro o volante de tr�s raios escamote�vel em sete posi��es e opcionais in�ditos com alarme sonoro para lanternas e far�is quando ligados, controle temporizado dos far�is e luz interna, vidros el�tricos com temporizador e ar condicionado com extens�o para o banco traseiro (Para o Diplomata SE estes itens eram de s�rie).

O potente motor 250S a gasolina, somente era oferecido sob encomenda e foi substitu�do por um modelo alem�o, c�mbio autom�tico de quatro marchas e bloqueio do conversor de torque. A fabrica��o do fen�meno da industria automobil�stica � encerrada. O �ltimo Opala � fabricado, no dia 16 de abril de 1992, saindo de linha a mais poderosa produ��o de conforto, durabilidade e pot�ncia, motivo evidente que deixa at� hoje milhares de admiradores, que mesmo ap�s 13 anos o consideram "O Imbat�vel".

2012 Sonic. Just don't call it the Aveo. The five-door hatch and four-door sedan are set to be officially unveiled later today at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, but the Bow Tie brand has been kind enough to share the skinny on this vehicle that's supposed to tango with the likes of the new Hyundai Elantra and the Ford Fiesta. The Sonic will be available with a standard 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, though buyers can opt up for a turbocharged 1.4-liter producing 138 horsepower, which GM underscores is 18 ponies more than the Fiesta. Shifting duties are handled by either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic gearbox.



In fact, it's clear that The General had its sights locked on the Fiesta from the get go. The Sonic hatchback packs more back seat room than its Blue Oval competitor and, with the rear bench folded flat, delivers more cargo room, as well.



GM also put plenty of effort into the suspension by tasking the geometry gurus responsible for the Corvette's mighty grip. Up front, while a torsion beam handles suspension duties out back.



There's also plenty design-wise to differentiate the Sonic from its homely predecessor, including a more aggressive front fascia with massive headlight arrays. Judging from the photos, the biggest changes are indoors, where a stylish cockpit replaces the bland, bargain plastics of the Aveo. When Chevrolet returned the Impala to its lineup after a brief hiatus in 1999 as a 2000 model, many thought that Chevrolet would continue to emphasis the brand’s flagship sedan. Sadly, the GM bankruptcy seems to have cut those dreams short and the 2012 that is expected to hit showrooms in late 2011 will be largely unchanged if industry rumors prove to be accurate. Considering the fact that no Impala show cars have hit the car shows only seems to validate the idea that the current Impala will soldier on a bit longer.

Model History



A stunning 9 generations of Impalas have graced the Chevrolet label since 1958. With the muscle car trend arriving only shortly after the unveiling of the Impala, it was probably no coincidence that the car quickly got an SS badge and even non-SS models were treated to options such as Chevy’s ludicrously powerful 409 cid. The 1961 Impala SS paved the way for future Impala SS’s and set sales records back in its day, including 243,114 during 1965 alone.

Future



Sadly, the 9th generation Impala SS was dropped for the 2010 model year but it is an almost given that the SS badge will return when the vehicle is refreshed in a few years. Competitors in the full-sized American car bracket have all but died out with the death of Ford’s Crown Victoria and Dodge/Chrysler losing the Intrepid and the re-branding of the 300. In short, the true full-sized car market is essentially left only to the Impala at the moment, though there are a few imports that are not quite in the same league in terms of price and size.

The all-new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu made its global debut at the 2011 Auto Shanghai, with simultaneous introductions in the United States and China - two of the nearly 100 countries on six continents where it will be sold. Chevrolet's first global midsize sedan will provide customers from Shanghai to New York and Sydney to Sao Paulo with expressive design, advanced technologies, ride performance and fuel-efficient powertrains.



"The current Malibu has left an award-winning impression and changed the way people think about Chevrolet. It redefined what an American midsize car could be," said Rick Scheidt, vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. "This all-new Chevrolet Malibu delivers on the intangibles of today's Malibu but gives customers even more: more style, fuel efficiency, content and features, craftsmanship, and dynamic capabilities rivaling high-end sedans."



Expressive and efficient exterior



"The exterior design of the all-new Chevrolet Malibu carries DNA from its sister vehicles, the Camaro and Corvette, to bring a sporty sensibility to the family sedan segment," said Bryan Nesbitt, executive director for GM exterior design and Chevrolet Brand Champion.



A wider stance, broad shoulders and an integrated rear spoiler bring a new athleticism to Malibu and give it a more aggressive appearance. The new Chevrolet Malibu has a 4.5-inch (114 mm) shorter wheelbase and 62-inch (1,574 mm) front and rear tracks that are more than 2 inches (51 mm) wider than the model it replaces.Other exterior design cues include Chevrolet's dual-port grille, projector HID headlamps, larger Chevrolet bow-tie badges front and rear, and new Camaro-inspired LED dual-element taillamps. The look is complemented by a range of large 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheels.



The new Malibu exterior is anticipated to be SAE-certified as one of the most aerodynamically efficient cars in the segment, with a coefficient of drag (Cd) rating near Chevrolet Volt's Cd of .280. Because of Chevrolet Malibu's new shape and design, engineers were able to remove 60 counts of wind drag compared to the model it replaces.



Chevrolet Malibu also has electronically controlled and integrated active aero shutters (select models in North American markets) to improve aerodynamics and enhance fuel economy without sacrificing the exterior design.



Chevrolet Malibu's active shutter system automatically closes airflow through the lower intake opening when air intake is least needed. When closed, the shutter system enhances aerodynamic performance by redirecting airflow around the front of the vehicle and down the sides, rather than through it. Whether the shutter is open or closed depends on engine coolant temperature and speed - for example, the shutters open when the car is traveling up a hill, pulling a trailer, or in hot city driving; the shutters close at highway speeds when less engine cooling is required.



Roomier, more refined interior



The new Malibu interior was designed to bring an element of sophistication to everyday driving, featuring an all-new dual cockpit design that creates an inviting, roomy and comfortable environment.



The increased width of the new Chevrolet Malibu means a more spacious cabin. Compared to the previous model, it has nearly 4 cubic feet (113 L) of additional interior volume, along with more shoulder and hip room.



The Chevrolet Malibu interior features metallic, chrome or wood accents located around the shifter, surrounding the center stack, around the instrument cluster and on doors and the steering wheel. Soft, ice blue ambient lighting reflects off of and complements chrome accents and ensures even, consistent illumination along the instrument panel and in storage pockets. Ice blue lighting on the center stack dials, exposed ice blue French contrast stitching, soft-touch and textured surfaces, and strategic applications of noise-deadening materials add to Malibu's interior refinement.



The Chevrolet Malibu also has a number of storage areas, including a radio face that articulates up and down to reveal a six-inch deep storage area behind its seven-inch touch-screen radio display - a U.S. first in a midsize car. Malibu will also offer a full range of the latest infotainment options, including new color radio systems and an available navigation system.



Malibu will include Chevrolet's new MyLink infotainment package at launch. It builds on the safety and security of OnStar and seamlessly integrates online services like Pandora® internet radio and Stitcher SmartRadio®. MyLink integrates wireless connectivity through Bluetooth to enable hands-free use of selected smart phone apps while the device remains safely stowed.



MyLink features a high-resolution, full-color touch screen display designed to manage the number of steps required to complete a task. MyLink also adds stereo audio streaming and wireless control of smart phones, building on the Bluetooth hands-free calling capability already offered in most Chevrolet vehicles.



All-new 2.5L powertrain



The 2013 Malibu features a global lineup of fuel-efficient and powerful four-cylinder engines that complements its European-inspired driving characteristics.



An all-new Ecotec 2.5L dual overhead cam, four-cylinder engine with direct injection leads Chevrolet Malibu's engine lineup in North America. It is expected to be one of the most efficient of its size in the market. New features include enhanced authority continuously variable valve timing, variable-displacement oil pump and electronic thermostat that save fuel, while delivering V-6-like performance. It is estimated the engine will be SAE-certified at more than 190 horsepower (141 kW) and 180 lb.-ft. of torque (245 Nm). The new engine has noise-reducing features such as a cast exhaust manifold, steel crank, low-noise timing chain and direct mount accessories that contribute to a quiet-cabin experience.



The 2.5L is mated to a Hydra-Matic 6T40 six-speed automatic with features designed to enhance powertrain efficiency. They include changes to clutch controls and hardware that improves shift response and time. These changes enabled engineers to specify higher gearing to improve cruising efficiency while maintaining acceleration performance and driveability.

The new Chevrolet Malibu comes in LS, LT and LTZ trim levels, with 10 exterior colors and four interior color combination choices in North America, depending on the model. Malibu production in the United States begins in early 2012. It will be built in multiple locations around the globe, including the Fairfax, Kan. and Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plants in the United States.

O Vectra GT � vendido em duas vers�es: GT, de entrada, e GT-X, topo de linha. As diferen�as entre as vers�es resumem-se a itens de conforto e conveni�ncia e de apar�ncia externa. Ar-condicionado digital, dire��o hidr�ulica, air-bag duplo s�o itens de s�rie em todas as vers�es.

O conjunto mec�nico do Vectra GT � o mesmo em ambas as vers�es, e tamb�m id�ntico ao do Vectra Sed�. O motor, o tradicional Fam�lia II da Chevrolet, de 121/128 cv, passou a 133/140 cv em 2009, com a ado��o de balancins roletados e coletor de admiss�o de pl�stico, entre outras altera��es, que adequaram o propulsor �s novas normas de emiss�o de poluentes. As principais caracter�sticas dessa motoriza��o continuam sendo o alto rendimento com combust�vel vegetal e a robustez mec�nica. A GM fez leves altera��es na suspens�o, a fim de tornar a condu��o do ve�culo mais esportiva que a do sed�, aprimorando a estabilidade sem comprometer o conforto dos passageiros.

O interior do Vectra GT � muito semelhante ao do sed�, exibindo linhas e cores s�brias, que contrastam com o design externo do carro e o diferenciam de outros modelos com vers�es esportivas da pr�pria marca.
